YOUTH & DEVOLUTION SYMPOSIUM

About YDS

In collaboration with FORD Foundation, Emerging Leaders Foundation (ELF) has been implementing a youth and devolution project, dubbed Tunaweza. Tunaweza project aims to support youth at the county level to meaningfully engage their local duty bearers to spur social accountability and community driven development. The project culminates with an annual national Youth and Devolution Symposium (YDS).

During the symposium, all the young people and local organizations that participated in the project are given a chance to showcase their work and detail their impact, outcomes, traction and lessons. Further, this conference also acts as an opportunity for networking among the youth actors in the policy spaces from different counties. Additionally, the symposium includes a session for peer review which allows cross-sectional assessment of each county’s work by youths. The project is currently in Bungoma, Narok, Uasin Gishu, Kericho, Migori, Murang’a, Makueni and Kilifi.
