We are dedicated to promoting voice, leadership, and transformation for young people at county levels by equipping them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and networks, we aim to foster democratic, accountable, and inclusive governance, ensuring that young people can effectively influence policy and governance processes for sustainable development in Africa.
An initiative of ELF-Africa, the Tunaweza Project (“We can” in Kiswahili) aims to increase youth participation in governance and devolution processes in Kenya. Implemented across 8 counties (Uasin Gishu, Kericho, Migori, Bungoma, Kilifi, Makueni, Narok, and Murang’a) the project empowers youth with knowledge, skills, and competencies to engage strategically in leadership and governance, promoting ethical leadership, inclusion, and accountability.
Young women and men from the counties of Uasin Gishu, Kericho, Migori, Bungoma, Kilifi, Makueni, Narok, and Murang’a are eligible to participate in the Tunaweza Project.
Participants will gain knowledge and skills in governance, leadership, and devolution processes, enabling them to engage strategically in socio-political decision-making spaces and promote ethical leadership and accountability.
The project is implemented through the efforts of county coordinators who are young people in the counties. They bring together youth from grassroots organizations and activists to engage in skilling, knowledge sharing, and joint action.
The objectives include generating evidence-based policy recommendations, increasing youth inclusion in decision-making spaces, and promoting ethical, responsive leadership and citizen-led accountability to curb corruption at the county level.
Interested participants can get involved by reaching out to ELF-Africa through our website or social media channels to learn more about the application process and upcoming skilling sessions in their respective counties.
