ABOUT PSELF

The Public Service Emerging Leaders Fellowship (PSELF) is a premier leadership development program designed to create a new generation of well-trained and ethical leaders in Kenya’s public service. Jointly run by the Public Service Commission of Kenya, Emerging Public Leaders, and Emerging Leaders Foundation-Africa, with the Chandler Institute of Governance as the curriculum developers, PSELF aims to enhance transparency and ethical service at both national and county levels. By recruiting young, exceptional talent from the civil service, the fellowship seeks to improve public service delivery, manage government resources ethically and transparently, and build a cadre of high-achieving professionals.

Who Is Eligible To Apply For The Ilead Fellowship?

To be eligible for the PSELF programme, you must

  • Be a Kenyan citizen, aged between 18-35 years
  • Have served as a full-time employee of the Government, serving in any State Department for less than three (3) years on permanent and pensionable terms
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a university recognized in Kenya
  • Have graduated in the year 2017 or later
  • Have demonstrated leadership potential in your chosen or workplace

What Will I Learn From The Fellowship?

Participants will receive comprehensive training in public service ethics, leadership within the public service, public sector innovation, and public resource management among many other topics designed to prepare them for high-achieving roles in Kenya’s civil service.

How Is The Program Structured?

The program includes a rigorous curriculum developed by the Chandler Institute of Governance featuring interactive workshops spread across 1 year, practical case studies, Capstone projects, and mentorship from experienced public service professionals.

How Much Does The Program Cost?

The Public Service Emerging Leaders Fellowship is offered at no cost to participants

How Do I Apply For The Public Service Emerging Leaders Fellowship?

Applicants will be required to submit a five hundred (500) word essay on why they consider themselves a suitable candidate for the programme and instances where they have demonstrated leadership. Interested and qualified candidates are requested to make their applications online through the Public Service Commission’s job portal.

Will I Receive A Certificate At The End Of The Fellowship?

Yes, participants who successfully complete the Fellowship will receive a certificate upon graduation.
