Yesterday we took some time off the ongoing shortlisting of the Public Service Emerging Leaders Fellowship fellows to host Witney Schneidman to lunch here in Nairobi.

Witney is a member of the Emerging Public Leaders global board and was in Kenya for a series for business engagements.

Speaking on the sidelines of this luncheon, Witney lauded the Public Service Emerging Leaders Fellowship as one of the most important programmes happening on the African continent, given its focus to ensure young leaders have positive experiences in government to enhance efficient and improved service delivery.

Witney added that such efforts will cause many young people to believe in the governments some more and hence strengthen the government operations and impact to the people.

Saying the programme was so timely, Witney urged the 50 Fellows who will be selected to work hard, give 100% of their skills and talents, and realise that they are at the forefront of the next generation of African leaders; a generation he said starts today.

In conclusion, Witney expressed the commitment of the EPL Global Board to the programme, saying that the board was keen to do everything possible to make sure the programme is a success, is real and that other people can emulate it.

Witney was accompanied by Ms. Mosa Mkhize, the Public Policy Advisor for Africa at Covington & Burling.
