We are dedicated to promoting voice, leadership, and transformation for young people at county levels by equipping them with the necessary knowledge, skills, and networks, we aim to foster democratic, accountable, and inclusive governance, ensuring that young people can effectively influence policy and governance processes for sustainable development in Africa.
The Husika Program by Emerging Leaders Foundation-Africa (ELF-Africa) aimed to promote the dynamic use of digital and social media platforms to enhance effective youth participation and engagement in governance and policy matters. Funded by the Open Society Institute for Eastern Africa (OSIEA), Husika engaged over 2 million young people across platforms like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. The program developed young change agents grounded in values, built a critical network of social media influencers for governance advocacy, and championed youth involvement in the county budget-making process.
Young people from across Kenya with an interest in governance, policy advocacy, and social media engagement were eligible to participate.
Participants gained skills in social media advocacy, governance processes, budget advocacy, and values-based leadership, along with mentorship from experienced leaders.
Husika was implemented through digital campaigns, training workshops, mentorship programs, and continuous social media engagement, focusing on governance and accountability.
