At ELF-Africa, mentorship goes beyond knowledge transfer—it’s about guiding individuals toward personal and professional transformation. One powerful story of growth is that of Purity Wanyeki, a fellow from Ilead Cohort 9, who benefited from comprehensive leadership training and coaching, and was mentored by Miriam Rose Ndichu as part of the program. Purity, a dedicated professional whose role demands frequent public speaking and leadership, once grappled with low confidence, people-pleasing tendencies, procrastination, and equating her self-worth with achievements. These struggles hindered her personal and professional relationships, impacting her job performance and emotional well-being.

Through ELF-Africa’s mentorship program, Purity had the opportunity to be mentored by Miriam Rose Ndichu, a mindset and fitness coach, whose guidance helped her confront her fears and grow into a confident leader. Miriam introduced Purity to the Positive Intelligence Mental Fitness Program (PQ), a tool that had transformed her own life. PQ focuses on developing mental fitness by shifting one’s mindset from negative patterns to positive ones, encouraging innovation, empathy, and stress-free action. Over three intensive months of daily tasks and weekly check-ins, Purity tackled her self-sabotaging tendencies, including conflict avoidance and the hyper-achiever mindset.

The program empowered Purity to rewire her brain, cultivating new mental habits that allowed her to face challenges from a healthier perspective. The impact was evident: Purity’s confidence soared, her public speaking skills improved, and she established healthier boundaries in both her personal and professional life. She now leads her team with greater clarity and contributes significantly to her workplace.

Miriam attributes this success to the focused use of the PQ gym, which strengthened Purity’s ability to manage stress and anxiety. The mentorship journey was not without challenges, especially balancing busy schedules, but both mentor and mentee were flexible, meeting outside regular working hours. The result was a tangible transformation, reaffirming the power of the mentorship tools.

For mentors seeking to inspire similar growth, Miriam emphasizes the importance of experiencing transformation firsthand before guiding others. “Our mentees cannot grow beyond our capacity as mentors. Therefore, we need to keep growing & developing ourselves.” she notes. As Purity’s story shows, with the right guidance and tools, individuals can overcome internal barriers, leading to personal breakthroughs and professional success.

At ELF-Africa, mentorship is a pathway to a just and dignified society—one story, one transformation at a time.
