PROGRAM OFFICER, GOVERNANCE & CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

Edward believes in building and inspiring individuals to believe in their greatness to achieve superior results. Motivated by his commitment to excellence, Edward is currently the Program Officer, Governance & Civic Engagement. He also doubles up as the ICT – Operations and Support Officer. His core skills are project management, good governance expertise, Technovation, IT governance and Corporate governance, and strategic leadership. At ELF-Africa, he oversees and manages all governance projects and program-related initiatives. He is also responsible for overseeing the development and dissemination of technology tools, ICT policies and Cybersecurity within the organization. He has previously served as the Assistant Program Officer, Governance & Civic Engagement and Husika Project Associate at the organization.  Edward holds a BSc in Software Engineering from the University of Eastern Africa, Baraton and he is a member of International Association of Corporate Directors (IACD). He also holds a Diploma in Project Management from Alison.

Edward has over three years’ experience in project management and over five years’ experience in Information Technology. As an alumnus of ELF-Africa Leadership Fellowship, Edward seeks to position ELF-Africa as a democratic governance leadership hub in Africa. Edward’s passion for inspirational – transformative leadership and technology has led him to win various accolades. In 2018, he was among the top 5 student leaders in the country who won the most coveted ‘Exemplary Student Leader Award 2018’ by University Student Leaders Awards (USLA) as organized by the Africa Youth Leadership Forum (AYLF). In 2018, he also won the inaugural ‘Emerging Leader Award 2018’ from the Emerging Leaders Foundation (ELF) as a Cohort 5 Fellow. Other accolades he has won include the Vice Chancellor Special Award, Honours Roll Award – for academic excellence, and Leadership medal of honour for servant leadership, among others.

When not running the Governance Projects, Edward spends his time running an online platform dubbed ‘#ProgressPower Nation’ that focuses on facilitation of young people’s effort in exchanging ideas in preparation for the future i.e. scholarships, conferences, awards, internships etc. In addition, he also provides mentorship to them. He also runs an online weekly book review series dubbed ‘#ProgressPower Learning Series’. At his free time, Edward spends travelling, journaling, watching documentaries, storytelling, doing workouts, graphic design and playing with kids. He is passionate about leadership, governance and technology. He dreams of Kenya full of opportunities and prosperity for all.
