MICHAEL SHAMALLA LUGONZO
Michael Shamalla is an agri-preneur based in Kitale, TransNzoia County. At his farm, Kireka, he is contracted by seed companies to multiply certified, hybrid seed for smallholder farmers. He is interested in understanding value chains in agri-business and how they dictate strategy that is impactful, scalable and sustainable. Shamalla is driven to understand God´s purpose in life and to help others achieve the same. He is passionate about social impact through entrepreneurship. His passion is rooted in the belief that nurturing entrepreneurs’ results in a prosperous society globally. Shamalla hopes to achieve social impact through engaging, growing, and inspiring the youth through social entrepreneurship. The Elf program will be key in assisting him accomplish this. Shamalla received his Bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Nairobi. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Management in Agribusiness in Strathmore Business School. In addition, he studied Accounting with ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) to Affiliate level.
He is happiest spending his free time listening to live band performances; or on the road exploring the vast national game reserves and other scenic sites across the country. He feeds his mind by reading business journals, entrepreneurship stories, African literature and watching history documentaries.
